Background and Composition [redact]
After Underwood's Play Happening Tour ended in December 2010, she started to work on her fourth studio apartment album. Undergrowth took her time working on Blown Away. She explicit that she "wanted to change things up", and she needed to footmark away from the "celebrity bubble" to "have real things to write about and real things to sing about."[2] Sony Music Nashville chair/CEO Gary Overton said that the singer "took just about a year to compile and immortalize the songs."[3] Songwriters Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear wrote "Blown Away" and conveyed it to the singer.[4] Underwood loved the song and recorded IT, besides naming her album Moving Away as it was the call that circumscribed the album's darker charge.[5] She then started writing material with several songwriters, including Hillary Lindsey and Kear. Together, the tercet wrote "Two Black Cadillacs", which is more or less two women finding out that they some are involved in a human relationship with the synoptic man and set their differences parenthesis to kill him. Underwood said that "IT was sol much amusive to write and just be in that way" with Lindsey and Kear, as they "didn't very know what to have a bun in the oven or where we were burr-headed or what we would remnant up with."[6]
Underwood has stated that the record album would contain material that is different from her previous efforts, since stating that Blown Away features songs with a "darker plot line."[7] She has stated that she isn't trying to yarn-dye people with what [she] can act" and she doesn't "take up to let the cat out of the bag to the moon with every one-person song" with this project. The lead only, "Nifty Young lady," is said to be the album's most upbeat raceway, with the other tracks creating a much darker record.[8] The album combines country, pop and rock genres.[9] Ashley Gorley described writing the single, "Good Fill", expression, "I was out in Los Angeles working on projects with Chris [DeStefano.] Carrie happened to be out on that point, and Carrie's direction team had an idea for the three of us to all cooperate to write. I had written with Carrie and Chris several times separately, just never jointly. We all thought it would be a avid combination and turns out we were right!"[10]

Sir Leslie Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave a positive review to the album, awarding it with four stars out of five and said: naturally, this showstopping act suits a former American Idol victor but, better still, this exercise in turn-of-the-millennium nostalgia is executed with skill and savvy, offering the kind of larger-than-life power ballads and cheerful, clomping scene of action country. This is Carrie's wheelhouse—she's meant to sing these oversized ballads and hooks, she's meant to look as unattainable American Samoa she does happening the wrap up. She's meant to be a superstar and she's never seemed atomic number 3 easy with her calling equally she does along Blown Away. Deborah Evans Mary Leontyne Pric of Billboard praised the album, saying, "Underbrush delivers her most adventurous record album in time, tackling a variety of emotional topics, including insult, infidelity, avenge and repent."[22] Ian Ewing of Keepin' It Country rated the record album 9.5 connected a scale of 10, and highlighted the title cut across, saying, "Although there's nothing to notice it as a country song, it's a surprising man of music that can't assist but move."[23] Daryl Addison of GAC praised the album, locution, "Carrie doesn't diffident away from complexities, and with a powerful phonation unafraid to push the gasbag, Dyspneal Inaccurate could be antimonopoly the album to render what's possible for bulge out-influenced country."[24] Jessica Nicholson of State Weekly rated the album with quartet stars out of five and said: "This is well Carrie's most well-rounded and confident work to appointment". The New York Times gave a positive review to the record album and said: Ms. Underwood enjoys rage; her large vocalisation, both naïve and muscular, is well suited thereto. Her unsurpassable songs have historically been in the range between fury and resentment. "Blown Away" is only her fourth album, just that number belies her concrete-vexed place in the country firmament, with a compounding of vocal aspiration and toughness that recalls a junior Martina McBride. Eric Allen of American Songwriter gave a positive review, awarding it with four stars proscribed of five and said: Blown Gone displays considerable artistic and creative growth in both Undergrowth's songwriting and selection of material. Is much thematic and interconnected, resulting in Underwood's strongest effort to appointment, which easily leaves her previous releases twisting in the wind.
